Default Explorer axle

Im off today, so I was thinking about going too the j-yard for their 50% off sale and find an axle. Im aware that some of the sport explorers (95+) come with 4.10s, disc brakes, and a LSD, but my question is will the explorers 8.8 be a direct swap to my f150?

AFAIK the explorers are smaller in width than the F150s

Spring perches on the 10.25 will be the same as your 8.8 in your f150.
As for the explorer 8.8 there narrower and have a smaller 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern.

The f250 uses 3" springs so the perch is 3" wide as opposed to my 2.5" springs. I plan on grinding off 1/4 inch off of either side of each perch and that shoukd give me the 2.5" perch i need. Id like to keep the 15" wheels, does anyone know if 15" wheels will clear the drums?

And the explorer is 28 spline vs the f150s 31 spline.

Let's also not forget that the F150 is spring over while the Explorers are spring under.

Your wheels won't fit.
Different bolt pattern.
