Default Explorer 8.8

I am changing gears in a 93 f150 with a 8.8 rearend and 3.55's. Can I use a 4.10 carrier section out of an explorer 8.8?

Yes as long as both are the 31 spline count axles.

IIRC the f150 ones are 28 spline and exploders are 31, so I'm going to say no. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Wrong, ranger,28, exploder 31 , most, almost all f150 31.
also there is no carrier break with ford rear axles, so you can put the ring and pinion from the exploder on the f150 carrier, no problem. The big question is what explorers had 4.10s
I WANT SOME!!!

You can swap ring and pinion yes, but the carriers are different from 28 spline to 31.

Thanks for the info. No carrier break means that I only have to buy install kits and ring and pinion's, great. Does this include the front 44 also? The explorers that have D2 on the door id sticker are supposed to have 4.10's and lsd. I haven't checked but that is what I've read. Thank's again.

Now for the costly part, the dana 44 needs a different carrier for gear sets higher than 3.92,
but you can get bare carriers and swap the spiders, side gears and pin.

On the 8.8, you can usually swap the side gears between 31, and 28 spline carriers.

Are all d44 carriers created equal? I have a lsd in the front. I have decided I am going with 4.56's
