Default Exhaust question

A while back i got a whole new 2.5 inch true dual exhaust system. im not running cats but i do have 2 dronemaster 50 series mufflers and sound ok but really arent loud enough for me. I have stock manifolds but see a long tube header swap coming soon. i am considering one of 2 things. no mufflers and running straight pipes full time, Or buying a set of cable operated cutouts along with my mufflers so if i see cops i can get quiet for them what im wondering is how will it sound with straight pipes vs the cutouts. No i dont care a rats *** about emmisions, they dont do them here in south georgia. i really like the loud poppy wake the dead sound, im 18 thats what us kids like how will this sound with the manifolds? or should i wait for the headers?

The headers will make the current exhaust louder, I don't think will make much difference when you use the cut outs.
If you want it loud dump the current mufflers and install Thrush, you'll need ear plugs.

Look on their website, I believe they have sound clips and what not. I'm not sure of the style but had them on a car in the 80's and you could hear that thing a mile away, literally a mile away..

If you don't have cats get a flowmaster super 10! Mine is loud as **** and I still have cats on it, I can only imagine if I cut them off and put headers on it. Oh my.

Gotta love the Internet. I'm not saying you couldn't hear the guys car from a mile away but it depends on lots of factors. I have a 25 in thrush glasspack on mine and it's not loud. Straight pipes would be way louder than any kind of glass pack or muffler but with long tubes you'll wake the dead if it's straight piped. If you want loud and poppy just buy two 12 or 18 in glasspacks w your long tubes. Longer than that will be quieter, deeper and less poppy. Also the longer the exhaust piping the quieter. If you want loud and drone in the cab route it in front of the rear tire. Here is a guy w shorty headers w no cats and a 28in thrush glasspack
