Exhaust for 5.0
#11
I have a cherrybomb glasspack on my 94 f150 with a 5.0 and it rumbles pretty good. it was really cheap too. i picked up the glasspack for about $30 at a local autoparts store and installed it myself in a afternoon.

hey i have a 92 and i was thinking about upgrading my exhaust, but i didn't know if i needed both cats to pass inspection? or can i take 1 or both out for max power and mileage... thanks

We'd do it

Our trucks have two different types of catalytic converters. If you replace them a new one will be an all in one single cat. If you have a sniff test then it may not pass with one but it might. I think I remember others saying they haven't had a problem but I don't know if their inspection was just visual or sniffed for hydrocarbons.

so would that be my best bet, to run a magnaflow straight off of my first cat and try getting away with out the second one? and is magnaflow the best muffler to get added fuel economy but also have a nice deep roar? i would be putting it on my 92 which has a 5.0...

i have a 93 with the 5.0 and i HAD the 1st cat with a 'Y' pipe and then dual glasspacks coming off of that and it sounded just like stock, but with the volume turned up haha. So i cut off the glasspacks and now i just have the 1st cat and i think it sounds better than most other trucks.
But if you want it to sound any good i recommend only having one thing in your exhaust system, (ex. one cat OR aftermarket muffler OR glasspacks), and not having a muffler with the cat.
But like i said all i have is one catalytic converter and thats it, so adding a muffler will change the tone, but will make it quieter at the same time. And if they do emissions where you live they might sh*t a brick if you don't have any cats, not to mention the sensor is in the 1st cat (closest to the engine)

Has anyone used a cherry bomb vortex exhaust before. I had a friend he had it on his four banger yota and it made it sound like a v8. But im not sure if it will have the same effect on my v8. I even thought about cutting the muffler right out but that means ever year i gotta crawl under and swap it out with a muffler. so i still havent decided. But i do want to change it from out the rear to dual side exit any ideas about that would help.
