Default EVP Sensor??

What's the correct way to test the EVP sensor on the EGR?? And if it was bad, would that cause the RPM's to surge everytime I press the clutch in as I'm shifting??

OK. EVP sensor was bad. Disconnected battery and installed new EVP sensor. Reconnected battery, and it has changed the initial start-up for the better, but while I'm driving, the RPM's surge to 2500-3000 anytime I press the clutch in to shift.

Came back and scanned a code 44 during the KOER test. "Thermactor Fault" All other codes have disappeared.

I can't find a vacuum leak anywhere....

I'm running out of ideas... Replaced TPS, IAC, Plugs, Wires, Cap-Rotor, Throttle Cable, Cleaned Throttle Body.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!!!

CODE 44 "Thermactor Fault - Right Side Inop."

Would the air pump being bad cause a problem with the surging RPM's??

or could this be a catalytic converter related issue??

More likely the bad smog pump. Boneyard/$10.

I have a '96 with the 300 I6, and I also have a problem with surging RPMs when I push the clutch in. However, the RPMs only surge when the truck is not warmed up. As soon as it warms up the surging stops, and the opposite happens. The truck almost dies when I push the clutch in. I have replaced the EGR and the EGR pressure feedback solenoid. These have had minimal effect. Do you think it could be the EGR vacuum solenoid? This is the only thing I know to try since my truck doesn't have a EVP.
