Default engine swapping

ok my old 302 is getting pretty beat down, power steering is failing but got 120 xxx miles on it, not to bad for a 91, but i was wondering if a brand new 351 would be able to fit in there, and i am having trouble finding some 302 or 351 engines also, please help

P.S. i would like a brand new 351 though not 302

351 will fit and bolt up fine..everything will work except the intake bottom half and the accessory drive brackets...those will need to be from a 351

ok thanks but when you say the bottom half of intake you mean the tubing that will be going into the carb right, and the accesery belt drive you mean by that is like power steering, pump and all that correct

Hes saying that all the brackets on the front would have to be from a 351, the 302 brackets do not fit. But I do have to disagree with the upper intake off the 302 fitting on the 351, mine did not. I did the swap on my truck as well and the upper intake (the big chunk of aluminum that says 5.0 on it) off the 302 had a different port design than my 351....the 351 has an oval port and the 302 has a square port. But I suppose they made a couple different styles so I'm sure if you checked yours you could find one that would work. The only thing I would do if you want a brand new engine is get a long block from ford or jasper engines if you dont wanna build one yourself. Probably would have to hit up ebay or a junk yard to get a 351 intake and your brackets. There is no carb on a 91 thats a fuel injected motor.

That doesn't make any sense...fuel injection and carburetors are two completely different forms of fuel delivery, you either have one or the other. Unless someone put a different style on it you have multi port FI that came from the factory. What's it look like when you open the hood?

an engine, thats what it look like lol jk, but i got my intake on the driver side when i open it up and the engine on the passenger side when i open it up, but you got the intake tube going into the throttle body assembly right there where the tube meets up with it, then into the main part of the engine, that is the best way i can explain it without going out to my truck and looking

to my knowledge ford never ran throttle body injection on these trucks. It was either EFI or Carb. On our EFI systems there will be a throttle body and a plenum... the fuel goes into the heads through the fuel injectors.

Well if its an unmodified 91 then its fuel injection. Like 87 said they never made a throttle body FI system. The upper intake plenum is what the two big hoses clamp onto that are coming from your air filter. It will have Ford 5.0 stamped on the top, you cant miss it. But to get back to what your wanting to do, you probably wont be able to find a brand spanking new 351, it will be rebuilt no matter where you get it. I would try jasper engines or just a ford dealership and see what one costs.
