engine swap
i have a 93 f150 302 4wd with 250,000 miles its geting tired but its in real good shape i found a 302 out of a 89 e150 with low miles would this be an easy swap by just switching all my stuff to the doner or am i going to run into some major problems with this swap
I wish I could say for sure. I suspect that it is doable, you may have to switch some stuff, but the engines are the same. How much stuff, I can't say.
The thing is that with the electronics, sensors are added, connectors are changed(why do they do that?)...things like that. Are the transmissions the same? You should take the harness and computer to be safe.
Let us know what happens.
You could also try posting your question in the v8 engine forum. You may get a better response there.
I know this doesn't help much, but hopefully some others will pipe in.

As long as they are the same type of injection MAP or MAF they should be interchangeable with only the tin and brackets slightly different. Most 93 are the MAP engines so that should not be a problem.
i have seen people talking about doing a maf conversion how do you know wich on you have i dont have a mass air flow sensor in the air tube like my 04 explorer has does that mean i have the map i have what i think is advanced shade tree skills i have done motor swaps before i just never got into all of these new sensors and emmisions crap

Here's a pic of a maf sensor on tube from a 94 302
Ok guys got a question. I have an 89F150 that the motor to a crap and i found a 5.0 out of a 93 f150. My 89 has a 5.0 and i just wanted to know how big of a pain it would be to swap them out and what i have to change..

I wound up getting a motor from a 90 f150 with like 20,000 miles on it it went in just fine all I had to do was swap most of the accessory brackets and for some strange reason the oil pressure switch from the 90 wouldn't work so I had to go but one for a 93 I also changed all the gaskets on the motor while I had it on the stand just in Case runs like a champ now also I didn't really notice any real power difference in the two motors but the 93 motor does have better lifters then the 90
