well i bought a coil from advance called street force a brand that is made by mdi. well i replaced that and that wasnt the problem. im going to gues that it is the plugs so i will check those tomorrow. its possible for the plugs to let enough current through to make it spark for idle and then now enough when i step on the gas.

i have replaced the the spark plugs with autolite platinums. use a thread chaser to clean threads. and used a light to look into cylinders. the only cylinder that cought my eye is 5 it looked like an abrasive stripe going across the cylinder.. ill have to look at it some day closer. but here are some videos of my truck to see if you guys can hear what might be wrong.

this is just close up of exhause, u can hear a little poping sound.

here is a video of me driving around. you can only hear when i slow down to turn corners. juat the poping and a lot of wind. sry second video is long.

well if you just replaced the Cap/rotor, Plugs, Wires and coil....it aint much else but something mechanical....time to do a compression check...

If you wound it kind of hard mudding you could have done several things...Bent a pushrod, collapsed a lifter, bent a valve...compression test will tell you what cylinder it is on...

well this went on highway alot and drove a lot the thing is i would have noticed it when i was mudding. the next thing im going to try is check the fuel pressure regualator. i did a little computer check with my little scanner and it picked up that the fuel pump secondary circuit failed and the fuel pump primary circuit failed.

well i found the problem. the timing was off a lot.
i took that piece out and everything else to do the timing check. well lets just say this if their were timing marks on the passenger side of the engine it would be on. the only thing im worried about is that if it jumped this much i may have broken a tooth on the gear or something with the distributator. i can post some pics to show how far it was off.

My truck has 2 timing tabs...1 on the timing chain cover and 1 on the passenger side next to the smog pump...I had to clean the one next to the smog pump and thats where mine is...

I set mine at 14deg and it runs very good there....

not sure why mine has one on the cover too but it doesnt line up there at all....

well yeah i figured that out. and so i looked at cap again and decided to replace it now so i did. it runs smoother but it does the thing when i put it in gear. i take ignition modual out and get tested. now when i adjust timing if i want a little more power can i move the mark up close to tdc or do i move it back?

you move it away from TDC....

if you look at the bracket on the passenger side it will be marked from 0 (TDC) to 50 (BTDC) timing should be set at 10deg BTDC with the plug unplugged...

for more power advance it more...like I said I set mine at 14deg BTDC and locked it there...I may try to set it at 20deg BTDC but when the road is a little slick (with rain) the tires will spin in 2nd, 3rd gear pretty easy....

so I may either re-flash the ECU or get a timing controller so I can adjust it on the fly...
