Default Engine heat sensor

I replaced my heat sensor beacuse the temp guage was not reading anything. The engine is getting hot I smell the antifreeze but still no reading on my guages. Any ideas it was working until about two weeks ago. I have a 5.0 87 Ford F150 Oh yes very important im sure is that the water/anti freeze is spraying out of the radiator cap a little. Thanks for any ideas

did you change the 1-wire sensor or the 2-wire sensor...?

changing the sensor wont help with over heating...flush the system thoroughly and change the t-stat....

The 2 wire sensor is for the computer, the 1 wire sensor is for the gauge.

Replace the cap it might not be holding pressure. Had the same scenario, smell antifreeze and water blowing out of cap, but sender was ok.
