Default EGR question

Hey hows it goin? Im new here and I got a few questions. I just installed hedman longtube headers on my truck. I really need to hook the EGR up somehow to get my truck to pass emissions. Would it be possible to just run a piece of conduit down to my exhaust and weld it in and run that to the EGR valve? Also my truck will randomly die out and other times it will idle extremely high. Could this be from the egr not being hooked up or possibly the oxygen sensor not being hooked up? I just purchased a bung to install my o2 sensor again but im just wondering why it runs like this. I just changed the plugs, wires, fuel filter, cap, rotor, coil, and a bunch of vacuum lines that were dry rotted. It ran perfect until i put these headers on.

you need the o2 sensor, that will tell the truck what the fuel mixture needs to be, as for the egr they make eliminator kits

but can i pass emissions w/o the egr valve. I have a block off plate for it but i thought i needed it to pass emissions. If i have two high flow cats and i run racing fuel it should pass right? thats what i did when i had a camaro without the smog pump or air tubes or any of that.

they actualy have an eliminator kit, you can buy them on ebay their every where, it takes the place of the egr. The stock engine probably will not run good on race fuel.

Im not running 100% racing fuel. I was told if i put a few gallons of it in with some regular gas, b/c of it burning hotter it will lower my emissions. it worked on my camaro and my buddys fox body both with no emission equipment except for cats.

Afaik the higher the octane the smoother the engine runs? Reduces knocking and stuff like that.

Another idea is to put Alkylate petrol in the tank.

Will removeing the EGR cause EFI codes to pop up and cause problems?
