E4OD question
My '92 F-150 has a 5.8 and the E4OD. It is 2wd and came from the factory with a 5.0. It was converted to a MASS air 5.8. My transmission has started having issues recently and after looking around on the internet, I've noticed that my truck is having all the symptoms that people described as having on their diesel trucks with the E4OD when the fuel injection pump lever is bad or needs calibrating. My question is, do only diesels have a FIPL or do all E4OD equipped trucks have it also? It's just that every story I read was dealing with a diesel. If my truck doesn’t have a FIPL but is having identical symptoms as one that does. Another thought I had is that maybe its called the FIPL on a diesel and its the TPS on a gas? They sound like they perform similar operations.
Keep it simple. Instead of wishing issues with a diesel engine and E4OD pertain to your gas buggy, why don't you convey your problems with the tranny to us. I'm not qualified to voice an opinion on trannies, but others are. By the way, what the fudge is a FIPL?
FIPL= Fuel Ingection Pump Lever. My transmission keeps going back and fourth between 3rd and 4th gear on the highway. The shift between 1st and 2nd is fine under light throttle, but if I get on the gas, it slippes shifting between 1&2. And finally, after driving at highway speeds, once you get off the highway it will sometimes start off in 2nd gear and it seems to slip worse once it's warm.

Yeah, I can understand that. I'm going to look at the computer tomorrow. But what will I be looking for to tell if it's the correct computer or not? I'm assuming it is because it has driven/shifted fine for the past 2-3 years I've had it. It just started doing this recently. It probably needs a new transmission but I'm hoping to find something else to be causing the problems because I can't afford a transmission right now.
