Default E40D info.

I have bought haynes tech. manual for ford automatics and discovered I have a e40d in my truck and the manual doesn't cover it. It does have c6 info. and I know a e40d is basicily a c6 with overdrive. Would this cover it well enough or is there a better place for info. on e40d.

What transmissions are covered in the manual? I feel it would be very unlikely that such an important transmission would be omitted from the book. Maybe you need to read the descriptions better? Sometimes trannys are renamed or redesignated but are almost the same thing. I don't know for Ford but the 700-R4 and the 4L60E are almost identical so the processes are the same. The only Ford that I researched is the front wheel drive AODE which is similiar to the AXOD and AX4S.

c3, c4, c5, c6, aod are the only rear-wheel drive trans. covered. I know the e40d is basicily a c6 with overdrive. Is it pretty much the same or does someone know of a better manual. I am hopping to get one from pick-a-part, rebuild it, and put it on the shelf for when I need it. So any info. would be great.

The only similarities between the c6 and e4od is the amount of torque the transmission can handle. The e4od is computer controlled with a lock up converter, the c6 has vacuum modulation and adjustable bands with a straight converter.

Most shops that sell the parts can also sell a rebuild manual with the parts.
