Angry Dome Light problems

Need a little help, I bought a dome light that came out of a 1991 Ford Bronco, the light has the map lights along with the dome light. I took my old dome light out and replaced it with the Bronco dome light and that is when the problems started.

Prior to changing the dome light out, all my dash lights worked, my license plate lights worked, etc.

NOW, when I shut the door of my truck, the Bronco dome light comes on, when I open the door it turns off, exactly the opposite of what it is supposed to do, PLUS, now my dash lights will not come on nor will my license plate lights come on.

I checked all the fuses and nothing is blown, what in the world did I do wrong, I am stumped and aggravated at myself.

Your advice is really needed.

First take the light back off and see what happens. You may have used screws that are too long or hit a wire with the screw, or whatever you used to mount it.

isnt 91 the older body style? the older style might be either power or ground side controlled, and the other is the opposite.
check and see if the dash lights work with both the doors open and closed. if they work on the same ckt, they might be creating an open. i dont know for sure, just throwing out ideas.

Default Dome light

I thank the two members who replied to this thread, I have been unable to get the dome light to work, finally gave it up and reinstalled the stock light.

I appreciate your comments however.
