Default does anyone know what this ground is for?

i was looking around under the dash, and discovered this ground. the wire goes up for a few inches, and then the insulation is melted off and the wire is burned out. i can't find any other loose wires around. anyone know what it's supposed to be grounding?

sure feels like it, considering the wire must've been undersized/unfused, but it sure looks factory (properly threaded hole, proper wire crimp)

Anything electrical on your truck not working? I just took a look on my truck and i don't have a ground there, just looks out of place. What gives it away not being factory is the fact its a flat head screw.

Do you have an after market stereo deck?

I have a few things not working; the map light (but the done light does work) the power mirrors, and the drivers door sensor (but I know why that isn't working)
I do have an aftermarket stereo, but it's wired into the factory harness

the door sensor has a broken wire on on the pigtail, replacing that later. power mirrors have nothing obvious wrong with the harness, so i'm guessing it's the switch. i have no idea on the map light, since the dome light works and both bulbs are new. pulled it down and did some continuity tests on it earlier and it looks like the unit itself works, so i'm figuring the source wire must be cut somewhere, since the map light shares a ground with the dome light.
