Default diverter valve

i have an 87 f150,302fi,4x4 with duel tanks. the front is now dumping fuel into the rear, i switch to the rear tank and after a while the truck seems like its struggling, i think its pulling fuel from the front through the rear to the engine, anyways, i want to ditch the diverter and replace it with a manual switch. any ideas and any information would be very helpful

Just replace it, there is alot of work involved including putting in a shut off valve for each line, rewiring the pumps, and you would need a two position switch. Probably more money than to replace the tank valve.
