Times have changed. You see, automotive schools and dealerships are attempting to get away from the "grease ball shade tree mechanic" image by brainwashing them they are "Automotive Technicians," where they are persuaded of being better than "mechanics" because of not being covered in grease from changing clothes every hour.

I'm just stating the obvious, just ask anyone going to automotive school or who works for a reputable dealership. Initially it was a joke and now it's a debate.

 

"Technician". Possibly the most Bastardized term in the dictionary nowadays. "Raped" might be more accurate. Union's are the worst offenders. Second only to "Trade schools" to prop up their marketability.

My dad used to joke, "Instead of a raise, how about a new title? How's this sound? "__________ Technician"!
