Default Differences in Engines

Hey y'all.
I got a 1992 F150 with the 302.
I'm looking at snagging an engine out of a 1990 F150. Would their be any problems with just swapping it over? They both have a/c, etc.
Thanks in advanced.

The difference is the 92 has a roller cam and the 90 doesn't.

Also, the distributors on the 90 and 92 are incompatible unless you change the distributor gear.

Both have the same firing order, so you should be good there.

I read that they didn't actually put the roller cams in F150's till '95 - although they used the roller block since the mid 80's. Not doubting you, just that it conflicts with what I've read everywhere else ?

In 92 and 93, they used a roller cam with specs similar to the pre-92 flat tappet cam. This same roller cam was the one used in non-HO car engines in the 80s and early 90s. In 94, they started using what came to be known as the Explorer cam.

You can do a parts lookup on Melling's or Sealed Power's website to verify.

The 351s.....that's a different story.
