Default difference in stock ratings

Ok so a 1993 5.0L was rated at 185hp stock. The 94 was rated at 205hp (195hp with auto) But what is the difference in the motors besides having mass air in 94? Are there any mechanical differences?

I couldn't tell you exactly what is different. But just by looking at the engines you can tell some changes were made.

The difference is the camshaft.

The 94-up F150s have what is more commonly known as the Explorer camshaft.

That sounds right, do you know if the explorer camshaft has a LSA of about 114 or whatever it takes for the speed density to cope with it?

Yes, it has the necessary LSA. Here are the specs:

256 / 266
186 / 197
0.422 / 0.448
116 LSA

In my opinion, this camshaft would really be potent with 1.7 rocker arms. Of course with that change, you'd more than likely have to use a 1" intake spacer and taller valve covers for everything to clear.
