does 87 150 5.0 motors have a problem with cracked manifolds?
some have told me to put headers on it and run true duals.
problems with that is o2 sensor, the truck only has one,if i run true duals how is that gonna work?
second problem muffler shops hear in va wont touch it unless its going back stock or unless they work from the cat back.

You can put the oxygen sensor on one side and it will work fine, although it's not ideal. If the side that doesn't have the oxygen sensor misfires the computer won't notice. Any exhaust shop should do the exhaust as long as you are putting cats on each side. At the worst you can cut the old exhaust off then they have no choice but to run it new how you want it. I'd check for a different shop though, one that actually wants to earn some cash.

All states require vehicles that came with cats to have cats. If you don't have emissions inspections it just means it's easier to hide the fact that you removed them, but exhaust shops can't remove them or install an exhaust system without them unless the vehicle is not going to be operated on the highways. Here in Florida, we don't have emissions inspections but a cop can look under your vehicle to see if the cat has been removed and write you a ticket if it's not there.
