Default convert 2wd to 4wd ???

I have a 95 f150. The truck does need work. It has 267000 miles but I really like the truck. i'd say the only thing it is missing is 4x4. can I convert it to a 4x4? if so, what should I expect to run into? prices? explanations? THANKS ahead of time!

Do you want to go TTB or solid axle?

Ttb is the easiest, I've heard it just bolts in place of the 2wd stuff. Then just change to a 4wd trans and transfer case and get new driveshafts. It's pretty simple judging from other threads I've seen on here. Someone else should come in and be able to explain it better than I can.

Yeah man. Definitely possible. You'll need the TTB front assembly, rear axle to match the gear ratio for the front (unless you find a front assembly with the same ratio), you'll need a 4wd transmission with the transfer case (too much trouble using your stock trans and swapping the tail shaft unless you feel comfortable tearing apart your 2wd trans) and preferably the same trans type you have in your truck now (easier swap that way), you'll need the cross(k)member for the 4wd with both inner supports (they're definitely different), you'll need a 4wd speedo cable (it's longer cause it goes into the transfer case, and If your trucks an auto you may need to cut into your floor pan (unless your going push button 4wd, that's another story). You'll also need both driveshafts. Can't think of anything else off the top of my head. I'm sure someone else will pitch in with some knowledge.

I would think going and getting a junker 4x4 of same generation from a junkyard and just swap on parts would be the easiest way to do it

Your definitely right. Unless pops says "no". Happened in my case. Pulled all my parts from a bronco. Just different yoke out the trans/transfer case. Had to use the bronco driveshaft and get the driveshaft resized because of this. So my F150 is actually a "B150". Lol

I bought a wrecked truck for scrap price, took the 4x4 parts I needed then scrapped the rest and made money on the deal. If you don't mind spending a bit of time it's definitely worth it.

4x4 front axle/with radius arms and if you can coils.
easy way:: same transmission you have since it is a 95 you either have an E4od auto, or a mazda 5 speed, if your really lucky you have a Zf5 **but I doubt it, and you'll have a hard time finding one of those in a 4x4 small block pattern.**
the transfercase for the trans you get.
the trans cross member,
for drive shafts easy way is to find a 4x4 truck like yours with the same trans**example:: if you have a reg cab long bed 5 speed, find a reg cab 5 speed 4x4 to get the drive shafts out of. **but the front drive shaft can come out of any truck with the same trans your using***
GET A MANUAL transfer case, that way your not trying to figure out how to wire one in, the spot for the transfer is already one the floor, you just have to pull the carpet to remove the plate, then get the trim ring and boot out of a donor truck.

since your a 1995 truck try to get parts from a 92-96, but for the front axle anything from 80-96 will work. stay away from front axles from the 87-88 years.
you will not need any extended cables since your a 95, and there i a plug under the frame already to plug into the transfercase, that will light up the 4x4 dash lights.
