Cold Air Intake?
that ebay kit is worthless.... makes the runners 2 differant lenghts and the filters are 2 differant sizes!!! plus you get the added benifit of sucking up hot underhood air.....
and the ones K&N sell are not cold air intakes( even though they call them that) a cold air intake moves the filter completely out from under the hood...
if your detemined to get one though, just get the twin output K&N filter it mounts directly to the stock intake tubes.

MAP engines (as opposed to MAF) Adjust fuel trim base on changes in manifold pressure, not actual air flow. So after air flow increases to a level out of MAP's capability to compensate, you run lean.
There is some wiggle room for increasing intake air flow for MAP's, like switching from a stock filter element to a K&N drop in element. After that, personally, I wouldn't recommend any higher intake air flow than that.
MAF engines, however, are a different story. It knows exactly how much actual intake air flow is & compensates fuel trim accordingly.
There are attributes to both MAP & MAF that are not possessed by the other. So in later years, you find engines w/ both systems.

jljde: I have that exact kit from ebay. Seems to provide some more power according to the butt dyno, but that is obviously not reliable.
I did notice that so far I have a .94 mpg improvement when I average the last 4 tanks with all previous from the truck. (This is in SD winters, so that .94 is a huge upgrade from my 8-9 mpg when I let it warm up)
fordtrucknut: The filters are the same size and actually of very good quality. They are washable/reuseable filters, much the same as the kits that can be purchased from autozone. The tubes are different lengths, but they fit very well under the hood and actually suck cool air from the slight gap between hood and fender. (You can feel the air being pulled in right above where the filters sit)
But to the OP, I do agree with fordtrucknut that the K&N double filter would be your best bet for power/economy. I just dont have that kind of money, and for 52 shipped, this kit will pay for itself rather quickly with a 1mpg improvement.
