Default Coil spacers

Hey yall,
Just registered for the forum last night, but I've used to solve a few problems so far with the truck. And I've searched around for this one with no luck. But I've got a 2wd 89 XLT, an I just bought some coil spacers off craigslist cause I found em cheap. Well since I got all excited there, I didn't even think about the fact that they were for a 4x4. I wouldn't think with them just being spacers there would be a whole lot of difference, but I'm far from a mechanic. So I was just wonderin if they would fit on my truck, or should I just try to resell them and get the right ones?
Thanks,
Jake

These are the ones that I got:

As long as it's for an I-beam truck from like '82 to '96 (don't know about the ones that used king pins with the I beams) it's gonna fit. 4x2, 4x4, don't matter. All the lifts for these things are universal as well. My truck is 2 wheel drive, I have a 2.5" spacer, and if I bought a 2.5" lift now and converted to 4x4 later, everything would still bolt up perfectly.

Hope that solves your problem!

Alright thanks a lot. I sure do appreciate it.
Whats the easiest way to get them on? I try to do as much to my truck as i can, but like i said im no mechanic. Would my better bet be to take it to a shop, or is it pretty simple?
Thanks again,
Jake

Unbolt the front shocks and spring hold clips at top, raise the vehicle by the frame until the springs are loose, remove large nut and washer at base of spring, insert spacers, jack up a little more so springs will fit in, then lower the jack and reattach shocks.

Test drive.

I recommend buying new hardware grade 5 if you can cuz I busted that hardware on the install of my truck so I didn't trust the other one and replaced it as well so IMO get new hardware bit to each his own

Alright, hardware part noted. So the spring compressor isn't really required?

Tried foolin around with it, don't have the jack and can't find one to borrow to get it high enough. $200 an alright deal for them installed? Little more than I'd like to pay but doesn't seem too bad I reckon. Gonna check a few other places come Monday too though.

On a completely different note; my truck has been idling funny here lately. It either wants to sputter around, or idle pretty high. Googlin brings up an iac/aic (which ever one it is) that sound about right?

If you have a good enough sturdy strong jack just put a block of wood that's how I did mine and trust me your going to want that 200 for the alignment

Yes definitely! And the camber esentrics. Use some wood blocks. And rent a spring compresser from a parts store. Its so easy man. Dont waist the cash unless u really got that 200 to blow. And if u did have that cash to blow u shoulda got leveling springs instead of spacers...
