Default Code 452

Sorry about the double post, put it in the wrong forum.

Ok, so I wash my truck today and then wax it. Four hours later I start it up and the odometer and speedometer are not working. I notice this about the time the transmission SLAMS into second. Flashing OD Off light turns on.

Pulled code 452. Vehicle Speed Sensor fault.

No blown fuses. Is it possible that moisture has entered the harness for the VSS? I didn't spray up under the truck but washing it is the only thing I did to it today. Coincidence?

I'm going to change out the sensor and hope that its not a wiring issue.

The wiring back there is exposed to the elements under the truck and can be subjected to debris, moisture, you name it. I'd give the wiring a good look to see if there are frayed wires or loose connections, and even consider replacing the harness running from the frame rail to the VSS.

It could also be mere coincidence that the VSS pooped out the same day you washed the truck.
