Clutch slave bleeding
1989 F150, 5 speed, 4x4, 6 cyl. Just had local mech change master and slave cylinders. We can not get bled properly. Even parts guy said "this is the one that is hard to bleed". Anyone have any tips on how to get this bled. I will pass this on to my mech. There has to be more to it than gravity draining. This mech is top notch.
It's a Canadian thing eh!

Open the bleeder and gravity bleed till all the air is out, don't let the fluid level get low in the clutch master. Close the bleeder and just pump the pedal all the way to the floor and back up. Sometimes it takes a while but it does self bleed and will feel like normal again. I've bled my clutch in a bout 5 min.
People make the mistake of bleeding it like brakes, but thats not how to do it.

Yep as you drive it will get better but you will have to pump it enough to get some pedal back. Sometimes mine bleeds in a few strokes sometimes a few days. After a week I would suspect something still isn't right.
Thanks for the input. When I got the truck from thr mech, it felt great. After a few block of traffic driving, I only had half of a pedal and I had to return the pedal with my toe. The next day it seemed better but not what I would have expected. I will keep an eye on the level and keep driving for a while, It just releases at the floor right now.
I have installed a new clutch and slave cylander in my 96 f150 2wd. The transmission seems to be stuck in reverse and I can notget it out of gear. the truck is a 300 6cyl with a 5 speed. Could the shifter be in wrong?
