Default clutch question

My 95 f-150 has the Mazda 5 speed. i bought it 12,000 miles ago with a brand new clutch and master cyl. when i first got it you barely let the clutch out and it started going. but now you have to let it out about half way before it engages. i know its supposed to wear but this much?? And i don't do anything wrong with it that would make it wear fast. and ideas what might be wrong?

Actually that sounds about right. If they put in a new clutch when you bought it, they may not have bled the system 100%. Over time, the system will self bleed.

So when you push in the clutch, it did disengage but not as much as they normally do. Releasing the clutch and having it engage almost half way sounds about right.

What I would do is check the reservoir under the hood and see if the master cyl needs topping up or not.

Does the pedal feel stiffer then it did before? Or does it feel spongy?

That was the first thing i checked, and it did need a little bit to top it off, which i did. The clutch still feels normal, it isn't spongy feeling or hard to press down or anything.

Yes, the clutch wasn't fully bled and now it is. There is nothing wrong with it.

Thanks alot Sean! I was starting to worry about it a little. I guess i am use to all the old tractors on the farm, i can tell how bad the clutch is by how far i let out. But those are not hydraulic either.
