when i press the clutch on my 95 4.9l f150 it doesnt comeback up, bleed the clutch and worked for a bit, but started sticking after 5 hours. i think it might be a leak in the release bearing, but does anybody else have any ideas? dont want to drop the tranny if i dont have to...

 

Look for fluid around the clutch master cylinder both inside and outside the cab. Look for fluid leaking out of the transmission bellhousing. Inspect the line and connections. Have someone pump the clutch while looking to see if you can see any leaking or spraying.

 

theres fluid leaking from the transmission, and the clutch master cylinder is becoming more and more empty, so i know where the leak is coming from kind of... what does the clutch mast cyl. connect to exactly, how is it run through the transmission? is there only a few things that are connected to it? thanks for the help!

 

The clutch master cylinder has a line that goes to the hydraulic throwout bearing in the bellhousing. The only way to change the throwout bearing is to pull the transmission. Instead of a regular throwout bearing with a fork on a pivot point and external slave cylinder, this design incorporates the slave cylinder and bearing as one. It gives better leverage for less effort to push the clutch pedal, but makes fixing it a pain.

I'm not sure how the newer ones are set up. Haven't had the opportunity to work on anything over '96.
