Default Clunk in Rear End

I went through the glovebox last week end and I found this bolt (see photo). A couple of years ago I had a "CLUNK IN THE REAR OF MY 96 f150" when I went around a corner.

I started looking around under the truck. Nothing I saw would make the "CLUNK". However what i did find bad, was rusted out frame brackets and shackels that kept the shackle attached to the frame. I also found that the radius arm brackets (also) attached to the frame were rusted out. I bought new brackets and bushings (for the radius arms and shackels) and replaced all. I bought new shackels and brackets and bolts. The bolts for the rear end (spring to frame) were bad and I had to replace them also. As a result, the "CLUNK" is gone and I feel alot safer pulling any loads.

Hopefully, you folks will find this usefull.

Here is the shackle to the rear spring bolt that is now resized for vewing. The bolts were replaced as well as both shackles. The brackets that were riveted to the frame were rusted out and they were replaced also. I also found other brackets that were rusted out and they too were replaced.
