Clock Spring
How difficult is it to replace the clock spring in the steering wheel? For years I have had my airbag light flashing at me, no horn, cruise doesnt work, was told the clock spring is broke. I would say its been that way for 14 of its 18 years.
So out or curiosity, hire likely are you to accidentally set off the air bag? Or, is there another way of getting my cruise and horn working again without the clock spring? What part usually breaks?
its simple but you have to disconnect the battery. i did a write up on it on another forum if you would like to see it. PM me if you would like the site name, i cant post it here.

I had to do this on my Grand Cherokee. I put up with it for over a year. In theory it is easy to replace. In my case it wasn't. I could not get the steering wheel off! Believe me it wasn't due to lack of effort or enginuity. End the end I had to go to the Chrysler dealership. I sat in the passenger seat while the tech tried using a hydraulic wheel puller.
After a second, the steering wheel began to bow badly. He then looked at me and said I should know before he goes any further that it is possible for my steering wheel to snap in the process. At that point I didn't care. Just at the point where I honestly expected it to break, it came off. After all was said and done I saved about 12 bucks by doing the rest myself.
I don't think this is common as everything I read said it is easy. To be honest, it was, except for removing the actual steering wheel. Oh yeah, it fixed all the problems.
