Question Chips aka Power Modules

Search is failing me, or the answers are too deeply buried...

I own a '04 Grand Prix GTP & a full blown programing suite for the car
I can scan, data-log, read & write to the PCM
The car has an OBD2 port...

My '93 F150 - Super Cab - Flare Side, on the other hand...
I'm guessing it's OBD1? And it's obviously not a diesel...

Now, I'll quit babbling and get to the question.
Can I tune my truck like I tune my car? If so, please link me to the right direction...
If I can't, what "chips" are available to choose from?

So far, all I can find is a Jet Module & a Hypertech Chip.
Jet Part# 89307
Performance tuning is more difficult on Ford vehicles since the factory computer does not have a chip that can be easily replaced. To solve the problem JET developed a plug in module that attaches to the vehicle computer externally that can add up to 30 horsepower. The JET Ford Module optimizes the ignition spark advance, air to fuel ratios and transmission shifting for the ultimate in power and mileage gains. JET's exclusive Dynamic Spectrum Tuning provides optimal performance across the entire power band-not just at full throttle. Great for towing or SUV applications, all out street performance cars and everyday drivers. Daily drivers can use lower cost regular fuel for potential mileage gains, but for optimal performance gains use of mid-grade or better is recommended. Improves throttle response, acceleration and low end torque. Simple, plug-in installation in less than 30 minutes. Also works well with aftermarket intake and exhaust systems, mass air sensors, TBI spacers, etc. 50 state smog legal!
Hypertech Part# 630131
HYPERTECH POWER MODULE -- Designed to fine-tune the vehicle's stock computer and increase horsepower and torque; Optimizes spark timing and fuel delivery for the engine point-by-point over the entire wide open operating range; Changes shift points and provides firmer shifts for automatic transmission applications; Delivers more horsepower, higher torque, faster acceleration, and improved throttle response; 49-state legal; Not legal for sale in California; Easy installation; With Hypertech's limited lifetime warranty.
And 2 emails from Hypertech:
Part# 630131 is the correct Power Module. As with all of our tuning modules this one is designed around premium fuel which must be used. No less than 91 octane and we recommend 93 octane where available. We gained approximately 18hp and 25tq additional power with our tuning. This can be ordered through any Hypertech dealer. Thanks
-- and --
I really doubt anyone will get an extra 30HP even on 93 octane fuel. We tuned using 93 octane fuel and we extracted every drop of HP and TQ out of this vehicle without hurting mileage. No less than 91 octane can be used to prevent ping, even with the knock sensor working. The 630131 retails for $317.52 but most of our warehouse/dealers sell for much less. You'll need to call our dealers for exact pricing which is going to be very close to the $250 you mentioned.
We have not done any comparison testing with the Jet product on this earlier model. Thanks
Now, what I'm looking for is for the truck to shift like it is supposed to, a little better passing power on the expressway, better mileage, and maybe a bit more low-end torque.

I'm posting here because of the year of the truck, thinking I'll get the best answers here
If this has been answered, & I didn't use the right keywords, please point me in the right direction...
Also, and thoughts in regards to supporting mods are welcomed!

Thanks!

What do you think will work on a non-MAF, non-Sequential EFI Ford engine such as your 93' (which is OBD1).

Anyone have real life exp with this company?

Well that setup is new to me. It certainly "talks the talk"! After looking for something like that for a while and coming up short, I went w/ an Ignition system upgrade & base timing bump, Which I'm very happy w/ the results (87'302//18/23+MPG @16BTDC base time. So that would be my measuring stick. The Ignition upgrade is adviseable with or w/o an ECU Mod. You may be happy w/ that and the timing bump & save yourself $350.http://fullsizebronco.com/forum/show...ht=timing+bump After Ford did away w/ the distributor, I guess you have no other choice but to Mod the ECU as even base time bumping option is no longer an option. Maybe you should include Ignition upgrade & Timing bump as a poll choice option. You may be very surprised!! In the immortal thoughts of hackersmovie: "Allow for thinkin outside the Box!"(in this case, outside of the ECU) At least "Non of the above" (please explain your answer). What you have is a skewed poll. Like someone asking if you still beat your dog. Yes? So, you beat your dog! No? But you used to beat your dog! You need to give another option, like being able to suggest another option for your 93' beside ECU mod.

Hmmm...
I can't edit the poll part of the 1st post?
That's odd? Maybe I'm too new still?
