On trucks like these ones all I have heard is chips are junk and don't help anything but empty your wallet.

Chips are good for eating while sitting on the couch and watching T.V. No need to give your truck junk food.

The only way you'd see any real gain from a chip is with a full dyno tune. On a stock engine the small gain isnt worth the expense.

Chips are obsolete to be honest. Not knowing what kind of truck you have (assuming it's an 88), the engines are pretty weak up until about '94, so even if you did chip it, you'd still have something that wouldn't pull hard.

Yes it's a 88 4x4 with a 351w and a 3 speed auto. Not really wanting to increase power or anything just mpg.
