So back pressure is caused be the cats mainly, resanator or muffler will efect the back pressure but not as much as cats, its a greatly discussed topic, is back pressure needed??? Some say yes some say no, i seem to stay away from non confirmed statements but 3 out of 4 machanics ive talked to say you should be fine if you have a later model truck not the newer ones...look into back pressure more before you decide to do thay

you not a viable source either LOL whats your backround? back pressure serves its purpose. besides if you run your stock manifold there will be some back pressure. it all depends on the engine and set up. have you seen drag racers with zumies? i doubt there's any back pressure there
my back round is that I am going to school for this stuff

I'm a mechanic. Been for about ten years. Im not saying I know much but an engine doesn't NEED back pressure. In fact you want as close to zero back pressure at the peak of the power band. It's about velocity of the escaping gases AND volume escaping. Does the engine need back pressure? No, does it help? Yeah but only in small amounts
