I got the O2 sensor codes when my EGR system was messed up. Seemed like we decided that the O2 sensor read lean because the computer was compensating for EGR function when the EGR valve wasn't actually moving.

This link is my EGR thread - maybe it will help answer some questions and give you some ideas on how to troubleshoot. Sean pretty well wrote a book trying to guide me through this one! Hopefully your truck will play nicer than mine did... https://www.f150forum.com/f10/egr-code-33-a-11186/

Alright well I just got home from work and getting ready to mess with this thing some more... I have a new development on the situation when the motor is its bogged down state right before it decides to run like scaulded dog i here this fairly loud popping sound from under the hood. It only makes this sound when the engine is running poorly.

aliens8mycow my brain about shutdown after reading your post that is a hell of a lot of information and gave me a starting point on some things to check. Did the injector fix your problems? I am going to do he engine running test here in a bit see what i get back

What are the odds of this working to fix my egr problem?

The injector came along quite a bit later in the game... I'd go through the valve, check it for vacuum, check to see if it's stuck/sticking, etc. The injector may have been shot all along, but I couldn't even tell until the EGR thing was fixed.

If you want to rule out injector issues, get the motor idling, and pull one plug wire at a time (from the end at the plug) and see if the idle changes. Plug that one back in and move to the next one until you've checked all eight. If you pull one and don't notice any change, there's an issue with that cylinder - be it a clogged injector, bad plug, etc.

I tried that in desperation... it's now laying on my workbench along with the block-off plate and plug for the exhaust inlet tube that I had to buy to go along with it. The truck ran worse with that mess than it did with a crapped up egr system!

Good idea on checking the injector situation out. Hopefully it stops raining so I can work on it here sometime. I miss being home with a garage loaded with tools. But I am doing an internship right now so I only have a few things and what I can borrow from the golf club....

Anyone want to trade a round of golf or two at a top 100 golf course to help me fix this old beast lol?

Well i pulled my egr valve off and as far as I can tell it appears to be clean. I tried revving the motor and watching for movement and I can see the little actuator moving up and down as I rev the motor. So does that mean it is functioning properly? What next?

Possible bad EVP sensor. It tells the computer when the EGR opens and what position it is at.

Is that the sensor on top of the EGR? How do I test it or should i just try to replace it?
