Default Check engine light on the off

92 f150
5.0
Driving home the other day and the check engine light came on. Pulled into the gas station to fuel, shut it down, fueled up and when I started the truck again the check engine light was off. It stayed off for the remainder of the drive home. Drove the truck a couple times since and the light hasn't come back on yet. Haven't had the chance to check for any codes yet and just wondering what could cause this?

Welcome to the forum. Impossible for us to guess. Probably had the gas cap loose on the tank you were running off of if I was forced to guess, but it only takes a paperclip and 5 minutes to check codes for yourself after the truck is warmed up.

You know better than that. Our trucks are too old to have a loose gas cap code.

Check codes.
