Default check engine light

I have a 1995 F150 2WD 4.9 auto. The codes I get lead me to the EGR valve , I have taken the EGR off and the plunger works fine. Could it be the sensor that mounts right to the EGR. All my vacum lines are connected. Any ideas?

If the EGR pressure valve is aluminum it should be replaced. Auto zone has them for about $75. This is a common EGR failure. Also put a piece of hose on the EGR valve and apply vacuum to it to be sure the diaphragm is still good and moves the rod. Just pushing it won't tell you it's OK.

What he said. Its a simple circuit so test the voltage and the vacuum. Apply vacuum to the valve and see if it moves. It would help to know the code and definition.

It should hold vacuum. Should start to move at about 1 and fully open at 7.

x2. There are multiple EGR codes, all referring to something related to EGR function, but some not specifically to the valve itself.

Sorry the egr should start to move at 1 in. Hg and be fully open at 7 in.Hg. I feel like I got in trouble. LOL.
