Cheap lift for a 1987 F150?
ok you can fit with stock setup 31s!!! i have it on my truck keep in mind from there 33s is only one inch more so a 1 inch body lift will be like 31s so if you want 35s thats 2 inchs from 31s clearence so you only need a 2 inch lift kit so a 3 inch lift kit will be plenty

Don't mislead someone when you don't know what you're talking about. If you want 33s, throw on the body lift, it'll be fine. If you want 35s, I'd go with a 4" suspension lift. They might still rub a little bit, but it won't be horrible.
Basically i am gonna use the truck as a Daily winter truck and a 4x4ing rig. Im not to worried about bottoming out the suspension, but my tires are bald so i wanna upgrade to a 33" or maybe even a 35".
Would a body lift clear 35s?
Sorry if i seem like a noob, only ever had chevs

A 4" or 6" suspension lift would be ideal, but I still don't know if I'm going to go solid axle up front or not and didn't want to buy a lift only to take it off in a year.
and we dont have autozone in canada.
GIJOE . . wow here we go again first off learn a little math here do you know what a circle is or do we have to go back to preschool lets see a circle it has a radius and diameter so 33inchs is the diameter and half is the radius so when someone goes from 33s to 35s thats only 1 inch thicker all around not 2 inchs and the truck posted above aparently has 35s yes he cut the fenders and bumpers but if he lifted it 3 inchs instead of just 1 inch they would have fit you might have to modify the inner wheel wells but that would be it so and next thing this is a forum not a shop so keep in mind what your saying could be total horse crap so why would your word be anybetter but you keep going on chalengeing every one see how far that gets you on here this is for help nobody on here is 100% corect cause first off nobody can fix a truck miles away without seeing it and driving it we can only give answers based on comon problems
87 f150 thanks and good luck with the truck but if i had the money to spend i would do the suspention before body cause suspention is better looking and it gives higher clearence now the body lift is a cheep way to get biger tires on but to know for sure ill measure my truck stock and how much the axle clearnce is for the front and ill measure the max size stock but if i had to say stock 31s 33s will rub but if you do the body lift kit it will be just like raising the suspention cause its the exact same one lifts the wheel wwll higher the other just lowers the tire either way they the distance between is getting biger so which ever way you go is up to you and good luck

Yes. Its a circle. I know that. And what you were saying as far as clearance goes, I completely agree with, in relation to the TOP of the fender. But because it is a circle, it takes more than 1" of lift to gain 1" of clearance at the front and back of the fenders. By your amazing logic of 1" of lift should allow you to go from 31s to 33s, 2" allowed 35s, etc.... does that mean I can run 49" tires (18" over 31s..) because my truck has 9" of lift? Wow. That's sooooo cool! I'm gonna go buy some today!

yeah but what your saying by lifting the suspention will give more clearence wrong it is exactly the same wether you lift the body or raise the suspention its exactly the same 4 inch body or 4 inch lift will do the same for the tire size thats what im trying to prove and no your right on the 49 inch tires on one reason cause of the fender opening but if you lift the truck high enough so the tires are completly under than yeah you can have what ever you want ever see a monster truck before see how big those tires are but yet the body is so small hmmmm why is that my point is to this is that wether you lift the body or the suspention they are equal just think about it for a sec ok the distance still increases the same in fact if anything lifting the body is better for biger tires why because you dont change the distance the tire and shock changes so in theory the tire dosent go as high and yet the body is still raised up cause when you raise the suspention you change the distance the wheel travels but with body you dont change any of that you just move the wheel opening up higher
and as far as 49 inch tires yeah you prob could do it if you check the distance the wheel travels to the bump stop so if it only travels 4 inchs and its 4 inchs to the bottom of your fender then heck it will fit
