Default Cheap LED Tail Light Mod

Hay I was thinking about upgrading my tail lights to LED With the crome housing

but even on ebay at 1/2 off the lowest price I could find the stuff for was around 90$

so I got to thinking maybe I could just mod my original tail lights to look like these.

one thing that makes the new ones stick out was the crome housing.
so I was thinking I should just take mine apart and paint the inside crome.

and then just buy some cheap led bulbs of ebay something from here.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trks...at=0&_from=R40

so anyway my questions related to this.

what is a good brand of leds I should get witch bulbs do you gues think I should get?

also is there an easy way to take the red part off of the backing of the tail light?

as far as I know these things don't come apart to easy?

and also I would like to know if anyone knows where I could buy the full square led bulbs only like the ones that come with the more expancive taillights?

I am hoping my idia works out an I have a nice led taillight upgrade with out spending $200+

im not sure if the housing comes apart naturly because all I have ever done with them is screw a light bulb in them.

This is what i did to my tail lights. Cut out the back of the housing and installed a 6" oval LED light. The picture doesn't do it justice. They are very bright, especially at night

Can you post up a pic of the back of your housing? I've been wanting to do that mod, but trying to be more sure of how it all goes together before I butcher a perfect pair of tail lights

i dont have pics at the moment of the back. but i cut the back of the tail light so the light fit right in then i used the rubber gromment that came with the light to hold it in place. i had to trim it down tho. maybe ill pull one of them out tomorrow so you can see. i also made sure i had a spare set of tail lights in case lol but here is a link to a light similar to what i used. i bought mine at the local auto store
