swap out the stock muffler with maybe a glass pack and keep the stock pipes , run atleast 88octain, cant remember the fuel recomendations but i beleive you can change the timing but have to disconnect a wire some were first(if you know what your doing),or change your plugs for now. but your looking at about $250 intake $400 give or take for exhaust and $300 roughly for any power mods

Tune up. Muffler won't gain much since the cam in these trucks is geared towards pulling and not peak power. Heck, the only reason mine has an aftermarket muffler is A: the sound, but still quiet and B: the truck had straight pipes when I bought it. Its 2wd, so perhaps a 3.55 or 3.73 rear gear? That would be about $400 installed, but would make a world of difference. I'd check the O2 sensors and the cats as well. Magnaflow sells universal high flows for cheap.

Otherwise, header, I'd opt for shorties to simplify things. The stock intake isn't terrible, so a stock style panel filter, HD trans cooler and shift kit.

Depending on how mechanically inclined you are, a cheap set of iron heads. People sell cleaned up E7 heads off Mustangs all day long for a few hundred, heck, I gave a set away once. Outside of that, you're looking at the previous post, intake, TB...all not cheap.

As far as timing, these are TFI module trucks, so you would need to pull the spout connector before you adjusted the timing.

A k&n panel filter and a amsoil and filter change might net 10-15 hp?

skidmarks,

Running higher octane will not do anything. All octane is, is the anti-knocking rating. Unless you increase the compression in the engine you should run 87 octane. You can find TSBs on this if you don't believe me.

i say rear end gears. 3.73 or 4.10 throw in a posi while your there. this will yield the best acceleration for the money. way better than intake and exhaust.
