Default Changing Trans Fluid

1995 F150 XL, Manual Trans, V6, 176xxx miles:

Is it as simple as opening the "Drain" bolt, draining the fluid, replacing that bolt. Then opening the "Fill" bolt, filling the new fluid and replacing that bolt? Is that all I do?

Pull the fill bolt first to make sure it comes out

Default Whining drive noise when foot is on the gas.

Since I bought my 4.9 manual I have been doing so much work on, I haven't driven it much.

I hear a whining noise when accelerating, like the sound of an electric motor. It gets louder as rpms rise.

It's the sound you hear often when a manual car is going in reverse.

Does anyone know what I am referring to?
