Default Catless or high flow?

A buddy of mine has a 92 f150 just like mine, only difference is its red. Anyway he is giving me two flowmaster 10's and some 2 1/2 in. Piping and I was wondering if I should go Without cat's or if I should buy some magna flow high flow cat's? Witch would make it louder and sound better?

I have just installed the Magnaflow High Flow 2 focat on my 95 5.0. I also have a 2 chamber Flowmaster. I can tell you that if you are looking for loud, you are going to have to go straight pipe / no muffler. I don't understand why these trucks w/ a 5.0 are slow quite. Don't get me wrong, I love the sound of my truck. And my kids can tell when Daddy is home... If they are awake. But on the flip side, I don't have to worry about awaking any babies in the neighborhood. As far as performance gains w/ my set up... I would say it was marginal. I can now run my a/c on accelerating and it feels the same as when I didn't have this setup and no a/c on. Hope that makes since. I have also notice about 2 mpg increase... Then again... Did I just changed driving habits? Hope this helps in your decision. Also if you have any more questions about my setup, please feel free to ask. Peace & Chicken Greece!

when i first got my truck it was pretty quiet, so i cut off the muffler. it sounded the same, so i just cut a hole in the sides of the cats, gutted them and welded my holes back up. then it was much louder. i run it with no cats no mufflers. no emissions, inspections or anything like that here. all i need to register anything is a title and insurance.

Well it will be louder with no cats. But those who know.me on here know what I'm going to say. If you can afford cats the computer will be happier and the air will be cleaner. Keeping our trucks running well and clean keeps the tree huggers from passing crusher laws like the one that destroyed so many cars recently. In the name of ecology they gave tax rebates and filled landfills with thousands of cars and destroyed useable parts because they considered them polluters. If we prove our trucks can be clean they have no leg to stand on.

I just got this message. Sorry for the delay... It hooks directly up to the manifold and then connects to the muffler. Basically any way. I got mine from a whole sale company that I used to work for but you could get one at Summit or Jegs. You shouldn't have to pay more than about $200 or so. The best place to go to get your part # is magnaflow.com. Look under the catalytic portion of the website. I agree that we should keep our truck legal also. That is why I opted for the Magnaflow part.
