Default cat help need asap please

i have a 1993 5.0 4x4. im about to install new exhaust, but im putting on new cats. my truck currently does NOT have cats on em. there is this small tube on my new cat and i have no idea what it goes to. if anything. im going to be attatching a picture of what im talking about. the only place i can think of is the coffee can looking thing the smog pump runs to. it has one tube running to it, but nothing coming out of it. i just put my smog pump on too, so im not sure what all runs to that as well. lol

thanks guys!!

The coffee can thing is actually the intake/filter for the pump. The tubes from the cat comes from a diverter valve that is fed from the pump. You might be missing several parts from the air system.

i was hoping thats not what it meant lol
what i've found is the air injection reactor pipe (but theres 3 different ones and i dont know which would fit mine.) 2 different air pump check valves, and a diverter valve. im gonna put a picture of the DV to make sure thats the one i need.

is there anything else? or does anyone know where i can get a picture of how its all put together?

the small hose coming from my smog pump is connected and runs up ontop of my engine behind my intake....looks like everything is connected like it should. the big hose from smog pump goes to the "coffee can" haha and my vapor canister has 4 ports, but only 2 hooked up. dont know if its suppossed to be that way or not.

There are at least two different diverter valves, the one you need depends on the setup it had. If you have two control solenoids, you need the one pictured. If you have three, you need the dual function one. One control solenoid operates the EGR.

is there a way i can figure out which setup my truck had? the one pictured is the only one autozone offers for my truck. not that that indicates anything. i googled AIR diagrams and emission diagrams and cat digrams and found zilch lol that tube coming off my new cat is the only thing i can find that looks like its suppossed to have anything going to it. if i shimmy under my truck and take more pictures, would that help?

or can someone shimmy under their truck and take pictures of how their stuff is run? thanks again guys!

The 5.0 has one hole in the back of each head where half the system hooks up, to the diverter valve. The other hookup is the cat. Some models combined both functions into one valve. The control solenoids are on the drivers valve cover, two or three. One is for the EGR. Do you still have the EGR? Follow the line from it.

i followed each hole from each head found where they connected. i have all the pieces i need but one. one of the pipes was cut and crimped shut when they removed the cats intially i think. im gonna post a couple pictures. it looks like its from the air pump check valve, to the cat pipe that was cut. i dont know which specific one i need, or if any will fit. (from the oreilly's page) its gonna be a PITA to reach, but im just thankful i dont have to replace all of it. atleast not yet anyways. thanks a ton sean!!

ok i got the AIR pipe i needed, but how does it connect? it looks like a hose clamp at the smog pump, but do i need to worry about sealing it somehow at the cat?

I don't remember how it hooks there. I take them off, I don't put them back on. I think maybe it clamps like an exhaust pipe, slips over and a mini exhaust clamp.
