Default Cap, cover or box?

This is my first truck. I'm torn on getting a tool box, a cap or a tonneau cover...

I can find a newer cap on craigslist for 150 bucks, and I'll be painting the truck so i could spray it down while I'm at it.

I could also find a tool box for a 100 or so.

I know if i do a tonneau cover it will be a fold up model not a button model.

What do you guys run?

I suppose it all depends on what you need/want to do with it. The toolbox is useful for storing emergency tools. I'm not partial to caps; I've never really liked the appearance or felt it gave you more space. They are good for transporting items that need to stay dry. I personally have a tonneau cover on my truck and I'm very happy with it. I'm up in PA as well, and it's very nice in the winter to have. My vote's on the cover. Good luck!

it depends what your plans are for the truck and what you do. the toolbox is more practical for me. but if you haul alot of small stuff or just tow a trailer around, a cap might be best.

Toolbox FTW. I've got a cap but haven't put it on at all yet. I like having some room for cargo in the bed and I hate the way caps look.

Yep, depends on what you need to accomplish. I run a rack.

I'm the only one that can pick up the 20' aluminum stock, but I pull my toolbox behind me. I hate caps on trucks.

Thanks for the input guys! I don't think a cap is the way to go myself either. A cover is nice but i need one that folds up or removes easy because I occasionally go trash picking and such. I think I like the idea of a tool box because I can throw small things in it like tools, even a duffle bag or whatever.

The truck came with a button on model but all the buttons broke when I took it off. The frame is good but I really don't want another button model, they can be tricky in the cold. I have a second vehicle for longer trips and stuff that has indoor storage, if the weather is rainy or such I could use that car which makes me lean towards toolbox.

Now tool box... single lid or the one with 2 side flip lids?
