Did subford (Bill) tell you they were?
He's my mentor! If he say's they are, you can take that to the bank!
I'm basically an OBD1 Guy. I keep forgetting you have a 96/ OBD2. It's possible that they your year's are. Look for a part # on the base when you pull them.

lol...No wasn't him...Bought a new one just to try, I like the 5 buck fixes...still nothing...I am getting power to the pins on the connector of the computer. I've tested pins 55, 71, 97 (all have 12v) and pins 24,51,76,77,103 (all go to ground) as well as all the fuses in the power distribution box, and even the diode.... Talked to an autozoner and said I wish they had a machine to test the computer to see if it's good, and he told me they do but it's broken and they haven't got it fixed...Maybe I'll petition corporate to get their computer tester fixed. It worked great when they told me the new computer was on a pallet and they didn't know when they could get to it. Corporate had it to me in 30 minutes... Again, I can't thank you enough for brainstorming on this, as I ran out of ideas a while back...

Ok, thanks for the info even though that one page is way over my expertise... One little thing, even after I replaced the check engine light it doesn't come on, I get no voltage at all when I place it in run mode. I should get a engine light just for a second when I first turn on the truck right? Does that mean I've had two bad computers ?

PS - checked all the wiring underneath all the relays and fuses and it all looks good, no frayed wires, no corrosion, no nothing...

Looking at wires tells you nothing. You have to test for continuity. There's a wiring problem there somewhere. The check engine light always has power and the computer gives it the ground to light it up.

You're right of course! Just posting what a quick glance told me.... I am so lost when it comes to electrical gremlins, Does anyone have a complete wiring harness schematic? I have no idea where to start....I can see the ground switch from the computer with a voltmeter, but that wouldn't cause the fuel pump relay not to pull in....

At the risk of PROVING myself an idiot when it comes to electrical... the fusible links are the Giant Maxi fuses in the Power Distribution Box right? They all have 12v on both sides except for G and F on page two which are for trailer lights. I disconnected the relay since I don't pull a trailer and it had a short in the trailer wiring that I said I would fix when and if I ever needed to pull a trailer... and not before then....

I am an idiot... My trusty haynes manual tells me how to replace them but not where they are or what they look like....Any help on location or pics would be great....
