Default A/C compressor clutch replacment

Well, I was driving home this evening and I heard a grinding from under the hood. When i stopped to check it out the noise seemed to be coming from my A/C clutch. I was just wondering is it worth the effort to just replace the clutch or should I replace the whole compressor?

If it's the original compressor, you probably need to replace it... along with the drier and some other items in the a/c system.

As mentioned above, you might get by with just a clutch or compressor unit but the dryer, expansion valve and any filter that might be in the system should be replaced also.

I just replaced the clutch. The A/C compressor is functioning and blowing cold air so I saw no reason the replace it. Just a single bolt in the middle to remove the clutch face off, then a C-clip the remove the pulley. I made my own puller to remove it easier.

Glad it was an economical fix for you. Congratulations.

I've got the compressor getting the drier and valve tomorrow. Hopefully this weather holds out so I can get this done. Then I get to do U-joints next.
