Default Buzzer problem

1994; F150; 4.9; automatic; 124k miles. My truck has suddenly been giving me the 'lights left on' buzzer when I turn it off and open the door although the lights are not on, the key is not in the ignition nor is anything else that might normally trigger a buzzer. Doesn't do it every time. I've poked that button in the door jamb to see if it might have somehow gotten stuck and the lights are off so it's a mystery as to why the buzzer comes on. Just went out and turned the lights on and opened the door and no buzzer. Anyone have a fix for this? Thanks.

Sometimes if the ignition cylinder is wearing out it can do this. I've had customers trucks where I can slightly turn the cylinder and make the buzzer go on and off, sometimes make the lights and everything turn on without the key.

I feel for you, that buzzer is literally the worst noise in the world.
I just live with this problem so I remember to turn my lights off!

Default Buzzer alert figured out

I discovered that if the dinger is going off without keys in ignition and lights off, a slight twist of the ignition without the key in it, stops the buzzer. Guess there is enough wear that the contacts are loosened up or worn. Thanks.

Yeah thats a common thing to happen. Changing out the ignition cylinder is easy, just don't wait until its screwed up and you can't turn it.

Pull the buzzer and smash it with a BFH.

Thank me later.

Or just disconnect it... People may find it annoying but you'd be surprised at how many cars I've boosted because people get their cars towed in for leaving their lights on.

Seriously, happens more often then you'd think.
