Default Brown Relay?

While digging under the dash this evening, looking for a relay that might go to the wipers, I found a relay holder (brown) without a relay in it. It was stuffed under the passenger side kick panel. As far as I know, the only thing that doesn't work in my truck is the wiper motor and the A/C. The wipers only work on high, and the washer does work. Could this be the mystery relay that might make the wipers work in low and intermittent speeds?
If not, what could this go to? The truck is a '90 model, supposedly a Lariat, long bed 4x4. I do know that some things have been changed between the factory and me. The steering column is for an automatic, and the truck came as and still is a m5od. Don't know why that was changed, but it works, so I'm not messing with it. Still, I'm stumped on the wipers, and this relay connector. Tomorrow, I plan on going by the auto parts store and asking them if they have any idea what it is, but I thought I'd throw it out on here first. Any ideas?

Follow the wires from the wiper switch down and you will find a little black box, which is the wiper control module. Open it up and resolder the cracked connections.

I was heading that direction Sean, but night was coming, and I'm working in the driveway. I'll get back to it soon, but I thought I'd ask about the brown relay. It's not listed or shown in my Haynes manual. In fact, they don't show didly on the wipers.

The wipers are in the diagrams, separately. The brown thing, no idea what you're talking about.
