Default Brakes!

I own a 1994 xlt and everytime it's wet outside, when I press on my breaks the truck stops dead. Kinda feels like they lock up. It aslo feels like I'm going to fly right out the windshield haha. But when it's dry outside, my breaks work normally. Just curious to know if it has happened to anyone else before.

i have actually noticed the exact same thing on my truck since the snow started falling. when i first get in my truck and go about my day they are real sensetive, and the will lock right up if i press to much, but as i drive they seem to go back to normal. must be something to do with the cold?

I have a 95 f150 and this happens to my brakes. I live in Michigan and during the summer they are fine, it has just started happening in the last 2 month. what I do to make them not so touchy if that's what you wanna call it is when I get in my truck I will depress the brake pedal about 20-30 times as if I were bleeding the brakes, it helps out with mine.

you guys have clean fluid? remember any moisture from water in the system is going to freeze up in the lines and cause issues.

Just happens when something is wet. Ride the brakes for a few seconds, see if that clears it up. Mine do that for two or three stops then clears up. Some sort of witchcraft.

well we do that on our rigs... it's called warming up the brakes so they work better.

My 96 started doing that after it got cold out. But it was just the rear drum brakes. The brakes are in good condition and I changed the fluid not long ago. Some one on here suggested that the ABS fuse should be pulled to help alleviate the problem. I tried it and the rear brakes seem better. It is cheap to try, I think it is fuse 15 in the dash.

Wow. That's strange. I actually just noticed that the other day too. Must be the colder weather. It did go awat for me as well. Just a couple times hard braking did the trick.

Mine do that too and always have. When I first get in my truck I pump the brakes maybe 10 times after it rains good, after 1 or 2 stops they're good.

Sounds like the ABS units are not working properly. Mine has not done it yet. (knock on wood) Check the connections and make sure they are not drawing moisture. Might trying cleaning the plugs with some electrical contact cleaner. It can't hurt anything and might do some good. Make sure the wiring is on good working order.

Of course this is all guess from you guys have said. Might not be the problem at all.
