Default BRAKE PROBLEM...need help

i have a 93 f150 extended cab lifted 4in...the other day when it got really cold out my drivers side front brake started rubben when i wasnt on the brakes at all its a metal to metal grinding noise the brakes still work theres no other noises that ive heard and when i looked at it, nothen that i can see is broke or anything theres just alot of brake dust on the inside of the wheel and also all over in the wheel well....does anyone know wat that is or wat needs to be fixed anything helps im 19yrs old and really into these trucks always looken to learn more as well as foxbody mustangs...

you need to change your brakes, pretty much... and if they're rubbing metal to metal, then your more than likely gonna need to change a brake rotor to....

oh yea, you might have a caliper sticking to.... i just read the part about how you DIDN'T have your foot on the brake when you heard the grinding... i would check the caliper also... a sticking caliper is death to a set of brake pads

X2..prolly bad caliper...caused pads to fail prematurly

You could either buy a new caliper or purchasing the caliper rebuild kit may take care of it....not that difficult to do either.....

check the pins that the caliper slides on. they can get corroded and taking scotch brite to it and applying pin grease makes a big difference. you can also purchase a rebuild kit that will have them in it. i'd look at that before i buy a new caliper. i think just new pins are under 10 bucks. but make sure you look at your brake pads for uneven wear ex one being worn more than the other, not wearing straight, stuff like that.

if the caliper is at all sketchy i would just replace it, personally. i got one at o'reillys for $20.

Also calipers as well as shocks tires and ball joints usally go out about the same time, should replace both sides of a axle
