Replace or rebuild the motor ... Bad rings. I have the same problem with my 88. I'm going to just put a police intercepter motor in it.

I've tried the Restore product on another vehicle. Couldn't really tell any difference. For the price of the product, figure I could afford to blow a lot of oil by. :-)

Always a bit concerned with these wonder products. In this case, if it's supposed to fill in the the minor scratches and what-not on the cylinder walls - has to wonder what all else it's going to fill in as the oil carries it through the engine, especially where fill is not wanted.

Yeah try seafoam. If you rings are all gunked up and just need to be freed, it may help. I noticed a decrease in oil consumption when I seafoamed my engine. I put half the bottle in the gas tank (with about a half of tank of gas) and the other half in the engine oil, ran it for a week to 10 days and then changed the oil.

could that be the reason it's doing this? what all would a bad valve cover gasket do?

You're not doing your motor any favors by leaving seafoam in it that long. Even if you put the cheapest generic oil you can find in it, that would be better than nothing.

Did the blow-by just start since you've been driving with the seafoam in it?

A valve cover gasket is going to leave a trail of oil running down the motor beneath it.
