Default Bed Swap

I live in Pittsburgh and rust is killing my bed in typical Ford spots as well as some others. I want to do a bed swap. I've been looking around on Craigslist, and came across a question...mine is a 6ft bed, can I slap on an 8ft with no modification? I know its a simple thing to measure it out, but I don't have any friends with an 8ft. Really the question is where does Ford add the extra 2 feet, between the cab and wheel or between the wheel and rear bumper?..Its a '92 ex cab with dual tanks

No, you can't just bolt on an 8 foot bed. The extra space is between the wheel and cab, and there might be some behind the wheel too. But the extra length between the wheel and cab is pretty noticeable.

Thanks. I figured, but I just wanted to check. I really have no use for an 8ft bed anyhow, but I couldn't fall asleep without knowing the answer.
