yes, it would be reliable if you're not some hack driving it. You'd probably get a tad better fuel mileage as well. It's not that difficult..you'll need the tranny, clutch, flywheel, slave cylinder, master cylinder, clutch line, crossmember, a lengthened driveshaft and clutch pedal assembly that fits 92-96 trucks. It may sound like alot of stuff but it comes together easily. I've been thinking about this swap alot lately myself....You need to ask yourself if you could deal with driving a standard every single day in all types of traffic....

wouldnt you also need a 5spd trans harness, saftey switch, and a pcm for a 5spd? (to do it right, not cutting corners. )

i converted on a foxbody. and sadly i skipped those three items. but the pcm for mine worked fine. but no reverse lights, i dont plan on ever selling it so i dont care about the safety switch or reverse lights.

I did the swap on my fox also, no problems with the pcm here either. There IS an easy fix for reverse lights though. My safety switch works also.

I've decided I will start collecting parts to do this swap in my 88 F150 when as I come across them.

I HATE automatics with a passion.

im thinking about a e4od to zf tramsmission swap and while im at it swapping the bw 1356 transfer case to an np205. unstoppable much? mhm.

also what makes you deem your e4od as "less reliable" than a 5 spd?

what did you do with the reverse lights just wire them up to a switch? or did you get it to work with the sensor on the t5?

howd you do the saftey swicth as well?

Both of those are easily adapted. Wire them to the factory switches.
